Photographer’s Note

Yep.... this is our winter. 50 degrees, cold enough for a hooded sweatshirt, sunny, not a cloud in the sky. Warm enough to take the baby out and have him in the sunshine, show him what it looks like out in the country. Sure was nice to see those blue skies, though. It's been a beautiful day. But tonight? The temperature is supposed to be 18 F, with wind. Brrrrrr. Now THAT'S winter.

Winter is more tough in my city that yours! I like the tree on the left that makes a very good natyral framing. Great light, excellent details and colours and you chose the perfect point of view. I like the atmosphere. Well done!

Hi Shelly,
50 degrees and sunshine would be like heaven in these parts. Gonna be -12F tonight with a high of 8F.
Love the varying textures of the vivid blue lake where the riffinling ends and the lake turns to glass.
Excellent clarity and sharpness to this lovely state park image.

Oh to have such a winter. Hey if it goes down to 18 you'll be able to skate here soon. ;))
Nicely framed with the tree and branches and the exposure is spot on. The horizon could use a little straightening but overall a very pleasing image.

Hi Shelley,
The low light adds drama with the long shadows of the trees and the dancing shadows of the leaves. I also like the tree as a framing device with the sunlight on the trunk and the detail of the tiny branches. My husband has been complaining about, 'another brutal Southern California winter day.' He claims, 'There's a severe weather alert: SPF 50.' Sure is nice to be free from ice and subzero temperatures, isn't it?

The site is very nice, soft tones are charming and composition, from your point of view is unbeatable.

Pardon me while I do my metric conversions! Ah yes, 18F, that's well below freezing. What a crystal clear shot of this beautiful winter day. The combination of colours is superb, and the excellent composition with the overhanging boughs and the long shadows, just makes one want to sit down at that bench and have a picnic. Beautiful crisp shot.

Hi Shelly,
I like such a winter, in particular the temperature. Your picture makes me more willing to accept an offer of my daughter to move to Philly, PA where she lives. But here in Ukraine winters are nice too: transparent air, blue cloudless sky …, almost as in your picture. Only problem is temperature of course, it is too cold to take a good photo. As your shot shows the temperature was good enough. Very well captured!

Indeed, that does not look so wintry, but 18F is enough cold for a winter. ;) The photo has really lovely blue colours in the lake and the sky and the depth and clarity are excellent. A pleasant composition as well. TFS.
