Photographer’s Note
same beautiful winter day as in the post several days ago. still bare minimum of winter - snow covered fields, gorgeous clouds and long shadows.
I decided not to correct the slight wide angle distortion, I rather like how the trees seem to be leaning towards the V-shaped clouds.

Hi Kristine
Oh! A dragon in the sky, straight towards us!
I like the bright, animated clouds, that give so much life to the sky, and the line of the trees undulating on the ground. And the beautiful colors.

Lovely snowy landscape in contrast with a dark blue sky, I really like to shot and to see this type of pictures.
Best regards.

Good morning, Miss Winter! This is such a wonderful "very winter", a perfect "winter winter" in my eyes :))) The clouds play the main role in this scene but I also like the pale light, it has not reached the force yet that it will have in just some weeks from now but I always like this inbetween. The foot steps are another great feature and how they leave their marks in the snowfield, they break up the white a little, in a very good way I find. So so good, you did it again! Is this your last post before you leave ... Have a great day, beginning to pack maybe :))) Barbara.

Hello Kristine!
Another magnificent composition where that superb sky plays the most important role but where the bottom part, though simple, has lots to add to the whole image! I point out the row of bare trees and their color, the shadows on the snow and the footsteps! Very beautiful and pleasant!
TFS - Congratulations!
Warmest regards,

A very nice wide angle picture, also due to the pattern of clouds in the sky

This recalls the last upload of Henk with these big skies, but I think your compostion is better because of the "ground interest", I mean these trails which also add depth to the shot.

Hi Kristine,
You've chosen a great POV for this shot creating major emphasis on the attractive clouds. I too like the slight distortion and the perfect clarity. The footsteps in the snow....yours I would presume.....add a hint of "mankind" in this amazing natural location. Very well composed and well captured.
Cheers Grant

Dear Kristine,
Feathering clouds on a deep blue sky, were did i seen that before, must be in some kind of boring country ;-)
Those patches of sun light on the right over the snow brightens the whole picture up to an extra dimension, without it it would be less interesting. No need to correct the distortion, the trees are following the clouds to the far background, extra depth is created by them.
Lovely image, lucky for you you had some snow.
Take care,
Henk

Hello Kristine,
Nice winter shot due to the low angle light drawing long shadows on the snowy ground.
All the elements of the picture are an invitation to follow and travel towards a far background: the clouds, the prespective of the trees and of course the tracks on the snow very welcome to end the composition.
I agree with Floydian, no need to correct the trees, they are in the same mood as the clouds and it fits well to the photo.
The only point which could be discussed is the non uniform polarizer effect on the sky. Classical with wide angle lens. There are many different churches about polarizer on TE, so, up to you to make your choice ;-)
Yves.

Well, Kristine,
to say that it's fine should be an understatement!
It combines the superb beauty of a natural scenery with the graphic efects of an expert eye, not to talk about tecnical qualities... a photo to be reminded and taken as a model.
Thank you for sharing,
Donato

Hi, Kristine.
Perfect use of the wide angle, and I do agree with Master Henk : no reason to straighten up anything, as trees and clouds are totally complementary in patterns. Striking light and colors, wonderful wintery atmosphere, excellent job! Wish you guys a fantastic vacation in South America, have fun and come back with tons of gorgeous pictures! HUGS,
Fulvio.

Kristine,
There is a slight similarity between this shot and Henks recent post, when I first look at it I just assume it's Henk's than I realize it's your. Well, as I told Henk too, that only a good photographer with a keen sense of observation can make a landscape that is rather flat and somewhat boring to many other, but not to you, to come up with a visually pleasant and beautiful composition. The sky is the play a major role in this composition and the lone line of foot steps leading us suggest a sign of a present of human, on this otherwise pure and pristine landscape. The distortion of the lens doesn't bother me, as we all expect some of it, as well as tilting and such. Beautiful Winter Light. Thanks Kristine.

Hi Kristina,
the distortion provides a good effect here en the wonderful sky is making the photo. The perfectlyn outcentered lonely track in the virgin snow is the great attraction.

Hi, Kristine -
Odd polarization effect here; usually you see that overly blue sky in a corner of the shot. Might be the wide angle effect - which does work out nicely in terms of the tilted trees.
The single trail of footprints is a nice touch, well placed.
Best,

Hi Kristine,
Like Fulvio you have caught some beautiful wispy cloud and an incredible shade of winter blue in the sky.
The golden tones of the dorment trees flatter your lovely sky and the little foot prints give very nice scale in this wonderfully clear and sharp landscape.

This is my kind of shot - I just love the big open sky and am always looking for the impact that clouds can have on an image. You chose well and executed this shot perfectly. Well done and TFS. Gerald

Bonjour Kristine,
Good idea to keep the distortion, it accompanies well the movement of clouds in the sky. I also like the dialogue between clouds and footprints in the snow.
Great composition (one moretime!)

Hi Kristine,
very beautiful winter scene. You've divided the image perfectly: one sixth for the land, the other one for the trees and four siths for the wonderful sky. The image is well balanced in its elements and also in its lights and colors. I find the footsteps a very nice addition. Lovely one!

Oh wow wow wow. The 'I had a good look at Henk Meijer's photos'-series continues :-). Wonderful with that little bit of bottom and that vast blue part in the top.
15mm only! I would have thought that this was much wider. How big the difference with my 18mm is clear. I should buy a wide lense one of these days. But let me first win the lottery ;-).
Wonderful!

I just love those clouds; they look just like someone painted them on with a feather. The footprints are perfect, taking away the pristine smoothness of the snow. Very good minimalist image.

Hi Kristine,
I don't know why I did an old photo when you had a new one available - sorry about that!!
You were right to leave the perspective unchanged; it really does look like there is an interaction between the trees and the clouds - and perhaps there is!! The clarity of the blue sky is wonderful and the detail is perfect. A real winter beauty.

Hi Kristine,
I never actually understood why would anyone want to correct wide angle distortion... :)
Love it! Trees, clouds all sucked into invisible hole somewhere there in a distance. It seems they are really eagger to get there as fast as possible.
Simple yet strikingly wonderful.

Hello Kristine,
What a gorgeous view of pristine snow and the the cerulean blue sky. The extremely wide angle lens has created a bit of a tunneling effect in the trees. I might have stretched out the upper region of the image horizontally, but it is ultimately a matter of taste. Besides, your explanation does make sense, "the trees leaning towards the V-shaped clouds." The footsteps trailing off into the distance, or in this case, the footsteps you've left in the pristine snow pointing toward the viewer cover comprise an essential compositional element.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Kristine. I chuckled when you said 'slight' wide angle distortion :) but I agree that this is one shot where it was best not to correct it. The sweep of the clouds into the frame gives this a lot of impact, and the footprints add to the 'loneliness of winter' atmosphere. My only criticism would be the uneven polarising which others have mentioned. Cheers . . . David

Hi Kristine,
Wonderful composition, where you’ve managed to make every element converge to the base of this beautiful cirrus intortus: the woods, the footsteps, the other stripes of cirrus radiatus. The lighting and shadows are also fantastic. Congratulations for this simple yet harmonious painting! I'm adding it to my favorites.
