Photographer’s Note

The first buildings of the Castle Heusenstamm or also called Castle Schönborn were built in the 15th century. The part of the castle which is seen here was built from 1663 to 1668 by Philipp Erwein von Schönborn.

Today the castle is the town hall of Heusenstamm and a restaurant "Schloss-Schenke" is here located.

Das vordere Schloss wurde in den Jahren 1663 bis 1668 durch Philipp Erwein von Schönborn auf dem ehemaligen Vorhof der alten Burg erbaut. Die beiden Steinlöwen an den Seiten des Tores und das Schönborn´sche Wappen wurden dort aus Anlass des Kaiserbesuches 1764 angebracht.

Vor dem Schloss befindet sich ein kleiner Park, ein Rest einer früher weitläufigen Orangerie, die auch noch deutlich an den davor gelegenen Schlossteichen und der Schlossallee erkennbar ist. Das Schloss ist von einem heute trockengelegten Wassergraben umgeben, der einst mit Wasser aus der Bieber gespeist wurde.

Vom 17. Mai 1954 bis 1976 unterhielt die Oberpostdirektion Frankfurt im angemieteten Heusenstammer Schloss eine Postschule. Sie wurde zur Ausbildung von Beamten des gehobenen Dienstes genutzt.

In dem Schloss befindet sich heute das Rathaus der Stadt Heusenstamm und ein Restaurant, die "Schloss-Schenke". Auf dem Gelände um das Schloss findet im Sommer ein Weinfest und am zweiten Adventswochenende ein Weihnachtsmarkt der sogenannte "Heusenstammer St.Nikolausmarkt" statt. Eine zwischen hinterem Schloss und Bannturm dauerhaft installierte überdachte Freilichtbühne ist Austragungsort des Kultursommers mit zahlreichen musikalischen Veranstaltungen.

Hallo Achim, alles Gute für 2009! Die Winteratmosphäre ist gut eingefangen in diesem Foto des Schlosses, für das Du einen guten Blickwinkel gewählt hast. Das Januar-Licht gibt eine natürliche Impression, und die beiden Fußgänger sind hilfreich, um die eindrucksvolle Dimension der Architektur zu verstehen.

Bonjour, cher Achim,
Nombreux sont les châteaux qui tombent dans le domaine public. C'est peut-être une chance, car l'édifice est protégé et réhabilité permettant de conserver l'histoire du bâtiment.
Très belle prise de vue nous permettant d'admirer sous un jour neigeux ce château composé d'un corps central accosté de deux tours d'angle.

The diagonal line of the path is an asset to the composition. Yhe presence of the person has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the castle. The reflection of the light on the snow is enhancing the colors. have a nice day.

A rather severed architecture, more a barrack than a pleasure castle. But the wihte wall with the red underlining the windowsand doors fits very weell with the snow around.

Hallo Achim,
das Schloss wirkt wohl nicht besonders pompös, aber desto angenehmer. Man spürt, dass das Ziel mit dem Bau weniger die Representation, eher die Brauchbarkeit war, und die Renaissance schon fähig war, solche Wünsche zu erfüllen. Der Schnee erzeugt interessante Farbeffekte.
In Ungarn würde ein Schloss von gleichem Alter als Wunder bezeichnet. Ein Unterschied zwischen der deutschen und der ungarischen Geschichte ist es, dass während Kriegszeiten (siehe z.B. den Dreißigjährigen Krieg) in Deutschland die Bevölkerung, in Ungarn die Bauwerke zuerst vernichtet wurden. (So sehe ich es mindestens, eine wissenschaftliche Bestätigung liegt mir nicht vor.)
