Rossio square Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is a shot from the Rossio square at Downtown Lisboa, with the Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II in the background and a fountain in the foreground.

That part of the city, called "Baixa", was completely rebuit after the hearthquake which took place in 1755. The area is structured along the Avenida da Liberdade with the banking district, the big elevator de Sana Justa leading to the Cidade alta, the main shops and Libraries. You may find wonderful typical portuguese pastries nearby in the Confeiteria Nacional.

Hi Steven,
"Lisboa é boa" , especially its baroque part in twilight. I like the effect of the long exposure here, the water from the fountain seems good in this way.

I see, you did not miss the Confeitaria Nacional, the shop that bakes the best “Bolo Rei” in Lisbon. Did you try it?
Your shot is superb with a perfect blue hour light. I like it very much. Well done.

Very beautiful image of the Lisboa(downtown).
Great Blue Hour shot of this square. The buildings are interesting, the composition is well executed.But,with 3 seconds, the picture was very light.

Lovely and clean shot, Steven! I like the blue color of the skies, the people sitting beside the fountain and the rushing bus at the background...I wish you could take a broader shot of the fountain and building, maybe from the left side...It's a bit disturbing that the fountain is blocking part of the building facade...
