Photographers Note
Luxor Temple at the blue hour ? From the beginning it was one of the most expected moments in Egypt.I had seen many pictures of the Temple and knew that the illuminations were grandiose. Problems ? Always.. but the fun is to challenge them. Besides the crowds which block every spot the main problem here is the fact the blue hour lasts minutes only . So unless you visit the place every day at the same hours and during a week how wouldl you really know which parts to shoot ? I decided therefore to manage it in two days starting from the east. This is the alley with the great colonnade built by Amenhotep III and a statue of Ramses II. Some will notice a star just over his head. The exposure at 200 ISO was as long as 3 seconds. Tripods are allowed.

Tolga

Hi Izzet,
Beautifully crisp and clear image. Balanced composition and nice contrast between the warm, tungsten-lit monuments and that great blue sky. I like the early evening start just above the statue.
Happy New Year!

Hi Izzet,
I think the temple is captured very professionally. The picture is a good exemplar for me to learn how to get a perfect night or pre-night shot. Thanks for the informative note with useful parameters of the capturing!
Best regards,

Great shot! The lighting is what makes this special, as the look is much more dramatic than a daylight shot of the same subject would be. Your timing is just right too, with the deep blue of the sky giving nice colour, yet it's dark enough for stars to be visible. Well done!
