Photographer’s Note
It was our first full day on the Isle of Lewis and started out with a visit to the Dun Carloway Broch. We then went for a short walk past this lochan and into the low hills. The colors of the boat stood out against all the green and the grey of the sky. This picture shows a slightly different view than the typical scene of the Outer Hebrides--more green and less rock. The Broch is up a hill behind where I was standing. A broch was a defensible residence and the Carloway Broch was likely built between 100 BCE and 0.

Dear Pamela:
Interesting capture, the boat is certainly an eye-drawing object. The colors are subdued so the rails of the boat add interest. I like how the boat points to the right and the grass bends left. Interesting - good.
