North to Glenorchy Photo

Photographer’s Note

Another stunning NZ spring day, this time facing north from a lookout on the road between Quesnstown and Glenorchy.

A local photographic tour operator was also pulled up at this stop, and I had to compete with five or six of her clients snapping away at the same view. A very lovely spot and I can see why she chose it.

Tech stuff: evaluative metering let me down a bit in this brightly lit scene, and I'm not too sure why. Had to recover a bit of the blown highlights in the distant peaks. White balance as shot.

Hi Simon
Wow, I have been sitting here all day, constructing an itinerary for an upcoming trip to NZ and Glenochy is down for day 3. Chose it simply because I thought it would be a nice drive from Queenstown, this is the first picture I have seen of the place and thank you so much for posting it. What a beautiful scene and you have captured the magic of NZ perfectly, composition and colours are just brilliant.
