Ciao Davide,

dear Davide,
yes these are "Jizo(bosatsu)", a kind of stone statues for memorial services to dead children, unborn babies and all kind of good dead people.
people have been making many Jizo statues every place concerning the deaths, and those wear only red eprons like this shot.
old stone Jizo statues have tasteful surfaces like old stone houses in your country, and to my regret, lately the robbers often steal those stone Jizos, and sell them by marvelous price on the black market...
anyway your capturing is excellent to show us the vivid figures with back grief in people.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hi Davide, thanks for the very interesting note. I've heard about these Jizo statues before but never seen anyone. Now I have, and it's thanks to your picture! Good work!

hello Davide
Very nice strategy to get us to read the note in the workshop :) it works perfectly. But you know there is one negative draw, I cannot mark your note there as USEFUL.
A little sad to read about this tragedy. But I must say you have posted a good TE photo to show exactly what this website is all about - learning about the world through photography.
Most part of the world will not show such an indication because the matter will be kept secret and nobody would know about it. But here, the stones to mark the event.
A great TE post.

Ciao Davide,
Francesco
