It’s Raining in Sweden! Photo

Photographer’s Note

The image was captured as we drove by Lake Aursunden last summer. This lake is located between Røros and the border to Sweden, which by and large follows the horizon in the background.

The highest mountain on the border in this area is Mt Storvigelen (1582 m), located a bit to the right side in the frame. When we arrived at our destination in Sweden, the rain was pouring down… No big surprise from what we can see in the image!

Some facts: Lake Aursunden is located in the municipality of Røros at an altitude of 690 m, is around 20 km long and covers an area of 46 km2. The lake is populated by a variety of freshwater fish, dominated by trout, grayling and Arctic char. Lake Aursunden is also the source of Norway’s longest river Glåmma.

And since the image was taken from a moving car you will find a tad of motion blur in the field of wild flowers by the lakeside…

The peculiarity of this composition is the prevalence of horizontal lines: the shores, the lake and even the clouds have an horizontal development. so this, toghether with the interesting sky, give dynamicity at the photo. A nice landscape.

The rain has not prevented you from capturing a very interesting shot combining landscape, lakescape, mountainscape and skyscape. I think I may have invented some new words there! I particularly like the light in the sky.

The point of view leads our eyes toward the opposite side of the lake and toward the mountains in the background which is giving depth to the photo. The cloudy sky is sending light toward the lake and shadows over the mountains. The light is enhancing the colors of the scenery. Have a nice day.

I like this perspective view very much: everything seems to have a slight special silvery tint (because of the lighting and clouds, I suppose).

I like your sense of humor, Pablo. Give my greetings to Morty Magpie ;-) Just found out that I still had this one to visit in your gallery :) I can notice the blur due to the moving car. The result is still very enjoyable. Very beautiful summer scenery with snow(!) at sight in the mountain. This is a very cold region of the planet. You manage to make also a very nice composition considering your POV was moving. I love the WS as well - if it wasn't the cold it seems perfect for cycling since this is lovely and have no traffic at all.

I certainly remember this beautiful stately landscape with the mountains on the horizon. This is an absolutely great photo, all the more as it was taken from a moving car! Our eye is not attracted to to the blurred foreground, but to the peaceful lake and mountains in the background! Yes, peaceful, despite the threatening sky!
It looks as though the photo was taken in the morning; is that right? It invites to meditaion anyway!

Very nice capture of the Swedish downpour; to say nothing of the rest of the great clouds, mountains and lake.
You must be the master of drive-by shooting!!

I can see why you would find Alaska's fishing a tad over-crowded; all those fish and not a fisherman in sight. Are foreigners allowed to fish there??

I also like your WS a lot. Your comment about never getting anywhere would explain why we can take a week to make a trip that we could make in one day of VERY dedicated driving - that would be a 14 hour day, switching drivers. Larry believes in taking the scenic route as often as possible.
