Photographer’s Note
This is dedication, the air was 28 degrees F (-2C) and the wind was blowing a gale. Obviously the water is warmer than the air bit it had to be bone chilling...

Hello Greg,
Now it is confirmed, there are crazy (or at least fully motivated) guys everywhere on Earth :-)
The play of the light on the waves and the wall of little rain just above are eye catching.
Very good capture with the big zoom, an appropriate use for this kind of photo.
Yves.

Hi Greg,
Every year at nearby Lake George (NY's Adirondacks) at the beginning of the Winter Carnival they cut a hole in the ice and hundreds go for a swim. No west suits allowed.
Wonderful transculent colors and lovely textures the misty rolling wave.
Very well seen and captured.

awesome photo, Greg, the fast shutter speed has made the water look like an ice, goes well with your story about surfing in -2C. I like a lot your tight framing that focuses attention on that fantastic water, and the silhouette of the man is just in the right place to add a sense of movement. superb work, my compliments.

Hi, Greg.
I was fixing to say your fast shutter speed turned the water into ice, but Kristine was faster... LOL!!! Striking action shot, the ice-effect is stunning and perfectly complementary to location and temps, lighting and colors absolutely marvelous. GREAT JOB! Have a good day, see ya soon.

Hi Greg,
What an amazing wave!! It looks like a waterfall. We have a Nova Scotia Cousin who quits surfing when the chunks of ice get too big. It's rumored that he plans to visit us in San Diego this year. Poor fellow!! Hope you don't mind if I add this to my wave collection

Hello Greg,
A superb shot, but December 13 in Maine!?! That might be an ice sculpture mounted on a board approaching the shore.
