Photographer’s Note
A home which has seen better days. Where are the former occupants? Did they join the shift to urban areas in the hope of a better life?
Taken from the moving Trans-Mongolian Railway. We had left Irkutsk in Eastern Siberia the previous evening -the location is still within Russia but we would soon be arriving at the Mongolian border.

Hi Marlene!
Mysterious abandoned place. Nice colors, very good saturation. Original frame. Good picture.

Hey Marlene,
Desolation describes it perfectly. Desolate and beautiful I would say, the landscape representing the beautiful, while the ruined buildings add some charm to the landscape they fit well into (hard to put in to words:). Even such a motive has it charms and is definitely worth capturing and even more: preserving.
Best regards.

Hi Marlene,
stages of dilapidation always catch my attention, but here – before reading your note – it was the most beautiful light on the house that made your shot very attractive for me! I also like your POV very much. Excellent capture of the decaying farm!
Warm regards

Hello Marlene,
very good photo! Very characteristic of some areas in RF. I especially like the warm colour gamma. Very good composition (though I would not crop the very top so much).
This view is not a surprise for me: in many areas in Russian Federation you can see such old houses, deserted villages, dying fields... all of them are far away from the capital. But Moscow is not all Russia. Russia is also what we can see in this photo. I stand for showing all possible aspects of a country, be they pleasant, beautiful, sad or arousing mixed feelings or controversial thoughts.
Tkanks for another interesting photo!
kind regards,
Elena

Hi Marlene,
Perfect title for this scene. Time passed by this place and so do all the trains. Thought provoking view of abandoned buildings in beautiful light. Golden toned grass and dark blue clouds make a good combination.

Hello Marlene,
An interesting view, reminding me a bit of eastern Turkey as I saw it 35 years ago. There's a fine light across the steppe under the dark sky. We don't get to see that many pictures from Buriatia these days, so this is a welcome contribution.
Best regards,
Gert

It's always fun poking around these places and letting your imagination run. Looks like you had good light here.

Hello Marlene,
You seem to travel a lot! I like the atmosphere of this picture. Abadoned places have something very fascinating and like you, we have many questions about what happened and who was living there. Beautiful contrast between the light on the foreground and the dark clouds in the back. Interesting posting!
Thanks a lot

Hello Marlene,
Strolling through your pictures my eye fell on this one. I just posted a photo of the same sort of desolation thousands kilometers away. It makes sad this unstoppable trek to the big cities. But who wants to blame someone leaving this place in search for a better life ?
Thank you for sharing this photo. As a little critique, I wondered whether you could have selected a bigger crop with more of this dramatic sky.
Regards
Jelle
