Photographer’s Note

This is yet another image from the Royal Palace complex in Phnom Penh.

Silver Pagoda and the Royal Palace complex is the finest example of buddhist architecture in Phnom Penh. To a certain extent it resembles its counterpart in Bangkok (but it gets far less visitors, which allows for a more private experience). There are several buildings surrounded by beautiful gardens where you can wander around. The complex dates back to the end of 19th century, and was partly preserved by the Khmer Rouge to demonstrate that they concerned about Cambodia's cultural richnes, so it is one of the few places in Cambodia where the traditions and richness of Khmer civilisation can still be seen.
