Tried to create the old Calcutta photo effect in PS. :)


I was helped by the conditions in which I originally shot this photo. The early morning haze is the reason why the background looks blurry. I played around with the Levels to blow out certain parts of the image. Then colorized the image using Hue/Saturation and finally applied the Dust and Scratches filter to all of the image except the boat.

I hope you like the resultant effect. :)

The photograph album acquired by University of Pennsylvania from a bookdealer consists of 60 photographs of Calcutta taken most likely between 1945-1946. The photographer, Mr. Claude Waddell, also provides some interesting annotations for each photograph which gives out a 'typical' American impression of India at this time.
