Church of Our Lady of the Rosary
Bello - Antioquia
======================================

The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary is a temple of religious worship Roman Catholic under the invocation of the Virgin of Rosario, is located north of Santander Park in the municipality of Bello, Colombia, and belongs to the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Medellin.

Inaugurated in 1947, which today stands as a symbol of religiosity of its inhabitants, a temple that while not supplant the old temple (known as Chapel Hatoviejo colonial style), it replaced it in terms of greater service coverage religious. Both temples are dedicated to the Virgen del Rosario and apostolic remain the center of the municipality, only that the colonial chapel has been declared national historical relic.

The process for construction was prolonged. Since the late nineteenth century, the Bishop of Medellin, Bernardo Herrera Campuzano, authorized the planes designed by engineers Jesus Mejia and Horacio Rodriguez, who began constructing the foundation and soon after they were forced, for various reasons, to suspend work. The revival of the works was made possible by the economic boom led by the dynamism of the textile town, the support of parishioners, fabricated and the municipal administration.

In 1936, the last year that served as the pastor Priest Fr Felix Mejia, began the process leading to the completion of the temple. The Priest Mejia hired the Italian architect engineer Germanetti Albano, who reviewed the emerging construction and designs presented with new approaches accepted by the Curia. A year later, under the guidance of pastoral Priest Rogelio Arango, the works were undertaken. On October 10, 1947, the day of the patron festivals, entered service in the new temple.

With features Basilica, the temple was ready in three ships and a series of arches. At the intersection of the nave and the cruise originates octagonal dome that is projected on the verge of the High Altar. This ends in a semicircular wall topped by a vault in the same way but lower altitude. The aisles are roofed two waters, and greater height, are the two slopes of the central nave and the cruise. Both aisles leading to two altars leading to the halls of the sacristy.

The materials used in construction are diverse. In the facade highlights different levels alternately covered with plaster and smooth plaster imitation brick. The two towers stand on the side of the nave area, which is the great door carved in bronze. In the eastern side, the facade is brick in sight. On the inside, the highlights were the marble floors of varied geometry, the gothic stained glass half-point and finished the walls with numerous drawings and plaster rosettes. Although there are no plans for the church, resting at home cural one which contains the main facade, done in ink and watercolor by Albano Germanetti.

The temple is a veritable museum of religious art. In addition to his decorated facade, columns, walls and arches, contains a wide range of artistic works and handicrafts such as murals, mosaics, stained glass, carvings, sculptures, reliefs and liturgical objects.

The WS exposed a front view of this flagship national Catholicism.

Hola John,
Marianne

Hello John,

I looked to your WS, I find these better than your great picture, but this is very personal and subjective.
But both picture have a excellent composition and nice of colours.
Very well done, TFS.

hello John,
I find that the upward looking angle fits very well the religious theme, since it symbolises prayers and thoughts going to heaven. the strong lines of the architecture add to the uplifting feeling, the church seems to be flowing up, I like that a lot.
I also like how you have captured the elaborate details, the warm yellow and red colours contrast well with the clear blue sky. the street lamp adds an interesting accent, this is very well seen and presented.

with best regards,
Kristine

Ok John,

Queda contratado!
