Here is another view from Nalca or Pangue, the area below the leaves is this way.
Nalca is a native plant of Chiloé (gunnera tinctoria). It is very usual in the forests and many people sells them in the cities. You choose the stalk and cut its leave off and the internal piece of the stalk can be ate. Some people says it is like ruibarb, in my opinion it is a fresh food a little astringed.

Vemos aqui a parte inferior das folhas de Nalca ou pangue.Tenho quase certeza que esta planta é parente das ortigas do Paraná pois a flor e a maneira que as folhas se apresentam são muito semelhantes.
A Nalca é nativa da ilha de Chiloé e vendida nas esquinas das cidades da região. Você escolhe o talo e corta fora a folha, descasca e come o interior. Dizem que parece ruibarbo, algo que nunca experimentei, para mim me pareceu um alimento fresco e algo adstringente.

Olá Jorge,
realmente em viagens não podemos ficar experimentado todo tipo de comida local senão corremos o risco de passar o resto dela sentado em um trono, hehe! Mas em sua foto conseguiu capturar bem os detalhes da planta.
