Photographer’s Note
SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL: Tropical rain forests are so intense that photographing them can be very hard. There is so much to place in your viewer that one has to sit down, look around, and let nature guide you through its natural course. To document a grand place one should learn a great deal about it before the shoot. I recommend reading books and magazines about the subject to place in your mind the information that will allow you to acquire the degree of intimacy with your subject that it can become second nature.
Close up or macro photography helps quite a bit. These assassin bugs aggregate to defend themselves from predators. Their coloration is a warning signal to their enemies. It says we taste bad, we may be poisonous and if you attack or eat any one of us you will regret it. Aggregations enable predators to make the a mistake only once and this will save the rest of the insects from injury and death from the same predator. Assassin bugs prey upon aphids and other insects, some even suck blood of mammals and birds in the jungle and are vectors to dreadful tropical diseases.

Another amazing shot!
The detail is wonderful, with enough DOF to keep every insect in focus. Such beautiful colours too.
A very interesting Photographer's Note too Leo. Thanks.
