The finches of the Galapagos were the subject of intensive study by Darwin in the early part of the 20th century. It was the diversity of these birds within and across the islands of the Galapagos that contributed to Darwin's theory of evolution.

I can't believe that this photo has been posted since september, and that nobody has said a word about it yet!
I think its beautiful! I love the way that the bird and the leaves are backlit. The only suggestion I would have for this photo is the focusing. The leaves are more in focus than the bird is. Other than that, I think its a great photo!

Good decision not to fill in with a flash. The backlight gives volume to the finch. I like backlighted photo but difficult to find the appropriate exposure. The focus bothers me less than the fact that the ficnh has his beak close to the frame on the right. Normally giving more space in front of subject is better..normaly
