Photographer’s Note
The next thing the thick knees would do, was to crouch out of sight to reinforce my search for them. As I got closer, they would get up and repeat their cat and mouse game all over again. I took this opportunity to shoot a picture that would document their well camouflaged feathers. It is very interesting that thick knees chose to breed in synchrony with the drying grasses of the llanos. As this event would enable them to use their camouflage colors when they were most effective for their survival.
