Photographer’s Note

I took this picture back in 2005, during a trip to 'Sierra Nevada' in Merida, Venezuela. The peak on the background is the 'Pico Humboldt', which hosts the biggest glacier in the country (not so big as you can see).

The Sierra Nevada is the northernmost part of the 'Cordillera de Los Andes'. This mountain range goes from Argentina to Venezuela/Colombia with a length greater than 7500 km. In the northern part, it divides itself in 'Cordillera Occidental', which continues to Colombia, and 'Cordillera Central' which at the same time forms the 'Cordillera Oriental'. This last one ends in Venezuelan territory, forming the 'Sierra Nevada' and 'Sierra La Culata', two National Parks located west of the country.

Pico Humboldt is, with 4942 m, the second elevation within Venezuelan territory, only preceded by Pico Bolivar, which lies in the same national park, with an altitude of 5007 m.

Good Morning Leonardo,

An exciting, rugged place place for walking, with wonderful scenery.
A good, sharp focus, capturing the textures of the rough terrain, well. The tumbling stream makes a good lead upwards.
Just a little thought about composition - a step to the side would have brought the pool to the edge of the frame and the figure a little less central. The inclusion of the person, however, is good for human interest and for an appreciation of the scale.

Hello Leonardo,
Nice shot and composition. Beautiful view but little bit flat and too bright on the background. I made little adjustment at the workshop, hope you don't mind.
