Photographer’s Note
This is the Mosque of Caracas called Sheikh Ibrahim Mosque. According to internet sources, this is the second largest mosquee of the continent. As a contrast, in the background you can see one of the two largest buildings in Caracas, which was burnt down some years ago and is currently being reconstructed. Just aside of the mosque, there is a Christian church.
It was the first mosque I ever visited. We, as women, had to wear a long green gown over our cloths, but were allowed to enter the main praying area of the mosque, what normally is forbidden in order to avoid distractions during prayer time.
The easiest way to get to the mosque is to take the underground to Colegio de Ingenieros.
I took a tilted picture to get as much as possible of this religious building in the shot. Sharpened and resized.
