Sunset in Paradise Photo

Photographer’s Note

A shot of a sunset in La Tortuga. I went there with a group of people who did some kayaking. The silhouette corresponds to one of the kayakists.

La Tortuga is one of the many islands forming the Dependencias Federales of Venezuela. It lies about 5 hours from Carenero, 4 hours from Margarita Island and some 9 hours from Los Roques. If you like almost virgin islands, you will love this one. Cayo Herradura, where I took this picture, had a lot of visitors this weekend (many yachts), but Tortuguilllo Sur where we went on Sunday was completely for us.

Be careful to bring good sun protection as there are no trees and the sun is very strong.

I increased contrast and added a touch of saturation. I rotated the picture one degree. I include the original as a WS.

This is an excellent shot and the silhouette is superb. The shot is captured at the right time with great colouring in the sky. The framing works well and the impact is great. Very well done.

The original Phot is better, the siluoette comes better out unless you wanted to highlight the susset

Very poetic composition. You positioned well the woman on the foreground and the boat. The color is amazing beatifull and as well as the sky. Bravo!

es un precioso anochecer el que nos presentas aquí, con una luz y unos colores suaves y muy agradable a la vista.
Añadir la silueta en contraluz de la chica recortada en el mar, y con un gran contraste con el cielo es una idea muy interesante, que da mucha calidad a la composición.

Hi Yvonne,

I went on around your pictures this evening while being in Barcelona ( Getting back home tomorrow ) and found this one which would be well placed in a brochure depicting a paradise island. You know of course that I am also a silhouette fan, and I would be happy if I had shot this one. Ideally the woman would show some more motion as if she was walking fast, but this is almost as good. Useless to say that the hour is splendid and so are the clouds and tones of the image.

A fine silhouette photo, a cliche a bit, but well executed. The oar is a nice add-on. I like the composition and colours of course.
