Puerto La Cruz, also called the Door of Eastern Venezuelan.
The history of this town begins when the Spaniards arrived in Venezuela. In 1780, the Christian Mission of Pozuelos (small wells) was founded. Later in 1862 a group of families from Margarita Island decided to settle in Pozuelos Bay.
In 1868 the first Church was built and the name of the town was changed to Puerto de la Santa Cruz (Port of the Holy Cross), but as the years passed people got used to calling it just "Puerto La Cruz". Its beautiful beaches makes Puerto La Cruz one of Venezuela's top tourist destination. It is also a good base from which to explore nearby Mochima National Park or arrange tours to other parts of the country. You can depart from here on the ferries that go to Margarita Island
In the Photo you can see the Bahia de Pozuelos (Pozuelos Bay) with an arriving freighter and a sailboat in the middle, on the right side are the Islas Borrachas (the drunk islands) and on the left side El Morro a Tourist Complex build on top of this promontory. This sunset colors are as they were on August 13, 1983. Puerto La Cruz is also well known by this kind of sun sets
