I have arrived in Montevideo by ferry from Buenos Aires (three hours one way) crossing the famous Rio de la Plata. From the ferry terminal one can follow a simple route leading through several lovely squares. I have showed you two of them already. This one here is called Plaza Zabala and is dedicated to the founder of Montevideo. The inscription at the base of the monument says: Al Fundador de Montevideo: General don Bruno de Zabala
Bruno Mauricio de Zabala (1682–1736) was a Spanish soldier and colonial administrator. He was born in the slum of Zabala in the province of Biscay. In 1717, Zabala was named capitán general of the Río de la Plata, where he suppressed piracy and confronted the Portuguese, who sought to claim the River Plate for themselves. In 1726, to contend with these rivals, Zabala constructed a fortress. This settlement, which would evolve into the city of Montevideo, became the center of Spanish control over the Banda Oriental, and later the capital of Uruguay.

What a surprise, my prefered city on earth and you are presenting its monuments always well framed with vegetation, under a great blue sky
Must be midday because of the stong sun, quite well managed light
Provincial ambience in a capital city very well captured, empty place, with few colorful exeptions
Well done,tfs ! Enjoy watching this !

A fine statue, and one of great size and stature too, showing well the importance of this man to the cities heritage. I always like these statues of historical figures on horseback, again probably because its not something I see many of in person, but there is something very regal about their design. This is nicely placed in the frame, and the trees surrounding it in the upper part are a nice idea. It looks like beautiful weather there too, I am slightly envious!!
Thanks for the note too, I love learning about these places through the images posted.
Thanks as always

well chosen the POV of the founder's statue of the town as decorated from above with the branches of the trees making the scene even more effective.
I like the excellent light and colour management as the way that the statue outline against the blue of the sky.
Have a good day,Danos

kolejny plac i kolejna udana praca.

This looks like a cosy small town square rather than a place in a fairly large city. The huge monument is very nicely framed by the two buildings and the overhanging branches of the trees form a very nicely shaped curtain above the statue. The two girls in pink and red sitting in front of the monument add life and colours and contribute a lot to the fine atmosphere I detect here. The first class clarity and brightness make this a very enjoyabble phoyo.

Very interesting piece of history backed up by a splendid shot to illustrate this imposing statue - viewed from impactful low shooting angle pointing up which is perfectly placed. It's so strikingly stands out to blue background sky, sharp in focus with good contrast with some other extra detailed highlights to complement the subject matter. As usual you exposure control is second to none. A very fine shot, and tfs

Well placed the monument with the trees foliage around, on pic. space, Mariusz.
Blue sky are perfectly clear, light enhanced the white marble and building "framed" the scene.
Nice town view, people added vivid texture to the whole.

We didn't have enough time to visit on my trip down there. so much to do and see, but the main thing was still Patagonia.
Any, after the cold in the south, this warm you up very nicely. Beautiful and warm light, good color and nice use of the tree to frame the image and provide shade for you.

you have found a fine view point from which to take this lovely shot, the statue atop the ornate monument being nicely framed by the surrounding branches.
I also enjoy the two ladies in colourful tops taking a break at the base.
Fine clarity as usual.
Kind regards Les.

Ciao e buon fine settimana

Well presented, the composition is well blanced with the statue and this natural frame with branches, light is perfect, tfs.

There is a lot to enjoy in this picture. The clarity is superb but then it is always is in your pictures. Everything is placed so well in the frame. The overhanging branches fill the space in the blue sky but what really makes it for me are the couple sitting down and the little mauve vehicle in the BG.
Kind Regards, Ann

Splendid monument to the founder of this city, the ideal image of the character on the horse, pedestal beautifully designed, contributes to the beauty of the whole.
