When I decided to visit San Miguel fort I intended to know only the building. The taxi driver stayed at entrance, drinking his yerba-mate, while I was visiting the building. At the end, he asked me if I wanted to know a museum, located few meters ahead, and let me there. -- It was an open space, full of small pavillions. It was the Criollo Museum. The place tell us how it was the life in countryside of Uruguay. Here I am posting a typical charriot. The roof is covered with leather while the walls are covered with a kind of straw and the "curtains" were made of leather. I wanted to show the charriot from this pov and unfortunately the light of outside was so strong. I saw this kind of charriot in many monuments in Montevideo, here we can see a real one. If you visit the fort, don't miss this little museun.

Quando decidi conhecer o forte de São Miguel pretendia percorrer apenas a área fortificada. O taxista ficou à minha espera, na entrada, bebendo chimarrão. Quando voltei ele me perguntou se eu queria conhecer um outro museu. Era o Museu Criollo, localizado bem próximo ao forte. O local se resume a um espaço gramado, repleto de pequenos pavilhões. O acervo mostra como era a vida no campo no Uruguai de antigamente. Aqui vemos uma típica carreta uruguaia, de teto de couro, paredes de palha e "cortinas" de couro. Queria muito tirar a foto deste ângulo e , infelizmente, a luz da janela estava forte demais. Já havia visto esta carreta típica em monumentos de Montevideo, aqui vemos uma verdadeira. Caso você venha visitar o Fortim de San Miguel, não deixe de visitar este pequeno museu, fica bem próximo do forte e é de graça.
