Es muy comun encontrar estas aves en lugares con elevaciones, sierras y colinas. En este caso esta fue tomada en "El Salto del Penitente", donde estas aves planeaban haciendo circulos sobre las zonas mas elevadas. Aquí fue captado en el instante en que decidió detenerse a descanzar.
Este ave es conocida en Uruguay como cuervo de cabeza roja, aunque en realidad no es un cuervo sino un buitre, su nombre científico es: Cathartes aura ruficollis. También se conoce por el nombre de Zamuro de Cabeza Roja, y en ingles como: Turkey Vulture.

It is very common to find these birds in places with terrain elevations, mountain ranges and hills. This photo was taken in "El Salto del Penitente" (The Penitente Jump), where these birds fly making circles over the highest zones. In this case I caught at the moment it decided to stop and take a rest.
This bird is known in Uruguay as cuervo de cabeza roja (red head crow), but it is not a crow, it is a vulture, the scientific name is: Cathartes aura ruficollis. In english the name is: Turkey Vulture.
