Photographer’s Note
Logs in water and at shore of Afobakka Dam Lake. Afobakka is a small village of Brokopondo.
The reddish colors on logs, soils and muddy water color comes from rich bauxite mines around all over Suriname.
Recently, gold has been discovered in the Brokopondo district, and this has led to many new settlers arriving in the district, both from other parts of Suriname and from the rest of the world, especially Brazilians that you can see one of their announcement Brazilian Carnaval
Brokopondo is a district of Suriname. Its capital city is Brokopondo; other towns include Brownsweg and Kwakoegron. The district has a population of 8,340, and an area of 7,364 square kilometres. Brokopondo district is the site of a large reservoir, the Brokopondo Reservoir near Afobakka (built between 1961 and 1964), which produces hydroelectric power that provides approximately half of the domestic electrical need. The contrast of light and colours between the halves of the picture is great and very interesting. The sky complements the sense of depth given by the long log on the left. Well done.

The cromatic contrast between the deep blue sky and the reddish colour of the lake is stunning. All the colours are very fine and the landscape is majestic. It's interesting to see old canoes in the foreground and the clouds shapes give a strong impression of moviment. Another of your masterpiece.

Hi Ertugrul,
Wonderful contrast from the muddy river and brown logs to the lush rain forest and fantastic blue sky.
The wreck of the old wooden boat adds a bit of history while the wonderful clouds formations adds some beauty to this wonderful riverside landscape.

Hey Ertugrul,
A truly amazing capture, you once again utilized the wide angle to perfection. You always seem to get such wonderful clouds in Suriname, which contrast finely with the ground .. Well, maybe because you only post such photos. :)
GG.

Hello, Ertugrul -
Once again you show your mastery of this type of landscape shot. Excellent composition with the treeline dividing the frame horizontally across the middle. The warm tones of the water and logs are in perfect contrast to the bright blue sky and beautiful clouds. The logs and old canoe add an interesting element. Well done.

Hi Ertugrul,
Stunning compo, clarity and colours! What a sense of space! The logs and the broken canoe seem to be in competition with the clouds - the former want to go forward and the latter seems to come towards us. I really admire much how you use those vast amounts of water and great skies to produce such punchy photos. Bravo!
I don't think that the discovery of gold is a good news.

Hi Professor Ertugrul,
I love wideangle shots. This one is especially good - as always technically spotless.
The vibrant colours are just eye-catching, composition is very attractive, and sky... that's the sky from my dreams. :)

hi Ertugril
Normally we always prefer clean color of river water but in this instance the brownish color of the river water really adds another tone of the contrast to this scenery. Good shot from SWA and using CPL effect.

Hello Ertugrul,
Interesting to see the huge logs on the banks of the lake, probably lost in some floating operation since it seems like the trees were cut down!
And I notice the old boat wreck too, also coloured by the bauxite...
This is a fine composition with rich colours, where I admire the lovely clouds hovering over the scene!
