Photographer’s Note

(Ceci est ma dernière photo pour un mois, rendez-vous après la Corse pour la suite et fin de ce voyage ;)
Jour 14 au Pérou, alors que le ciel gris a laissé filtré l'espace d'un dernier rayon de soleil sur le légendaire Machu Picchu, c'est le moment d'une séance de photos de ce point de vue excessivement classique, en primme c'est à une heure où il n'y a plus beaucoup de touristes tout propres (contrairement aux vrais randonneurs ;)
Les émotions se bousculent, on ne peut s'empêcher un sentiment d'accomplissement après ces 160km de haute altitude, et de finalement descendre en ce lieu mythique, on se sent en communion avec ces vieilles pierres travaillées par l'histoire. C'est une union symbolique des 3 éléments de la terre, l'eau et le ciel, la trinité de l'antique religion Inca.

Panorama recollé avec 4 photos verticales pour obtenir le grand angle. La surexposition à gauche était réelle à l'oeil nu, c'était en plein soleil et j'essayais de garder suffisemment de détails dans l'ombre.
On a pas pris le temps de visiter le site ce soir là (on reviendra au lever du soleil), on s'est dit qu'une visite aux sources thermales de la petite ville de Aguas Calientes s'imposait! Notre première route en 2 semaines était étrange, s'assoir dans des sièges moëlleux d'autobus mercedes flambants neufs aussi. Il faut dire que la ville n'a pratiquement pas de voitures, n'étant reliée au monde extérieur que par la voie ferrée.
Le clou de la soirée à été la première douche en 2 semaines... une douche électrique!!!

Day 14 in Peru, while the grey overcast let go a last sun ray over legendary Machu Picchu, now's the time for a photo fest of this ultimate classic of points of view, as a bonus there are very few (clean) tourists at this hour (as opposed to real trekkers ;)
Emotions jumble out, we reflect on a great sense of accomplishment after those 160km of high altitude. After finally descending to this mythical place, we can't help but feel a bond with those old stones shaped by history. It is a symbolic union of the 3 elements of the Earth, Water and sky of the ancient Inca religion.

Panorama stitched from 4 vertical shots to obtain a wide enough angle. The overexposure on the left was real to the eye, it was in the sun's glare and I tried to keep sufficient details in the shadows.
We did not have time to visit the site that evening (we'll get back at sunrise), since we decided that a visit to the hot springs of the little town of Aguas Calientes was necessary! Our first road in 2 weeks felt strange, sitting in soft seats of a brand new Mercedes bus as much so. There's the fact that this town has practically no cars, since the railroad is the only link to the outside world.
The highlight of the evening was the first shower in 2 weeks... an Electric Shower!!!

I cannot get sick of looking at this place, I have also been lucky to see Machu Picchu and regard it as one of the most magical places I have ever seen, as with the rest of Peru. I like how the people are just sitting back and taking this view in, which you have to do really for a good couple of hours as it leaves you in awe. The composition is good, but the light hitting the green makes this image with good depth and sharpness throughout. Would trek this place tomorrow again if I had the chance.

Bonjour Bruno,
Sûr que ton point de vue est classique... mais je donnerais cher pour avoir fait le même ;-) L'éclairage est très bon et l'assemblage absolument parfait. Une technique que tu maitrises absolument. J'ai bien l'ambiance très sombre à droite qui donne son originalité à l'image.
J'imagine la charge émotionnelle que représente pour toi cette image après ton périple.
Sympa de na pas nous transmettre les odeurs après 16 jours sans douche ;-)
Bonne journée à toi et je te souhaite une super balade sur le GR20 qui sera pour toi une promenade de santé après ce trek monstrueux.
Surtout, si tu passes pas Paris et que tu veux passer une soirée photo ou simplement boire un verre, n'hésite pas à faire signe !

What a fantastic trek you have taken us on, and to finish here with such a beautiful photograph is justice to you and the others in your trekking party. The sunlight spilling across this magical location is superb, the bright iridescent grass in the middle of the shot is....well, awe inspiring. I have seen many shots of this fantastic place, some may be as good, but none of them are better. Your composition, the detail in the image and the sharpness are amazing. For me the other amazing thing is that you carried your camera kit with you for the 160 kilometres, incredible.

Hello Bruno,

You play again with great light above on the mountain.
This is the first time that I see these place in the world.
It's simple wonderful for look it, I like this one.
Good point of view making good use of the curving wall at this point.
Excellent composition, colours are lovely as usual, also very well presentation. TFS.

tu t'es placé à l'endroit idéal pour cette prise de vue, bien au dessus de ce site mythique dont on peut profiter pleinement de ce fait.
Beaucoup de profondeur et d'altitude dans cette compo aux lumières pas vraiment faciles.

Bonjour Bruno,
Ce site est vraiment d'une beauté inouïe ! Le point de vue nous permet d'embrasser du regard tout le site. La lumière qui perce sur les ruines et fait éclater le vert est superbe. Les nuages gris accrochés aux sommets qui entourent le site créent une atmosphère très sympa. Bien vu pour le travail d'assemblage panoramique.

A breathtaking shot that is beautifully lit by the sun at the right moment. Great exposure and incredibly sharp finish. One of the best I have seen of this place. I like the fact you have included people in the shot. You chose a magnificent viewpoint, and did a great stitching job. Now I will have to go and look at your other shots!

Un classique bien mis en valeur ici par une belle lumiere et la presence des personnages en train de contempler l'endroit. L'assemblage est bon aussi je ne vois pas de trace de couture. Bonnes vacances en Corse alors et a bientot avec les nouvelles series du 450D !

This is what I think of whenever I hear the word Peru. What a breathtaking scenery! This lost city is a jewel in this mountain paradise. The colours of the image seem very natural though the sharpness may be a little too much. Nice work Bruno and enjoy the holidays :-)

Looking for forward to you new post of your trip. I can't wait to see them.
This one off course is a fairly good shot, all the details sharpness and clarity is there, composition is perfect. Light and color I'm not sure what happen, the green/yellow tone is very strong especially on the sky it look strange. On the landscape is somewhat exceptable. Different pp with less yellow will make it much better.

Wonderful view from this amazing viewpoint. At this spot you are exactly 7 meters below the highest peak in Norway (Galdhøpiggen 2469 masl). The old ruins with the impressive peak as background makes a nice POI. I really like the light which seems perfect and well managed. Well done! Have a nice day.
