Machu Picchu was discovered by the historian Hiram Bingham by accident when he stumbled upon it on 24 July 1911. Over 50 burial sites were discovered here most of which contained female remains, and it is said the Machu Picchu must once have been an important ceremonial centre.

hi Wanda

The texture of stone walls really stand out here in this pov, mixed with greenery and grey mountains and white clouds above. Well captured scene.

tfs, bill

Hi Wanda,

Clouds covered mountains make a perfect set-up to photograph archeological sites. But what a contrast you've caught, with a misty background and crystal clear structure.

I like the angle, I appreciate to see the selected section of amazing stone work and the use of vertical frame. Good vibrant tones and sharp details.

À bientôt!

André

Hi Wanda!
Great colors and composition. I like those foggy mountains on the background.
Well done!

Best wishes,
Eino

Hello Wanda.
You managed to find a superb viewpoint for this shot, capturing the corners of those three tiered stone walls, as well as the stairway. The sharp detail of the stonework stands out beautifully against the dark mountains and low clouds behind and this gives the photo a great sense of depth. A lovely photo.
Regards,
Andrew

good composition, fine clarity, very interesting place
but once again it's quite oversharpened

jo

Hi Wanda,
I like this atmosphere..the dark part in the background contrating to the bright walls. Excellent sharpness, too.
Cheers Christian

I would love to be able to see this someday. It looks amazing. A beautiful picture with excellent color and sharpness. TFS

Hi Wanda!
A nice detail of this magic place.I like the composition with the mountans in the clouds.Great contrast with the architecture and the bright green.
Regards,Leo

Groetjes, Henk

Wanda,
Great shot of the fine ruins showing nice detail and contrast. The lighting and colors are great but the image is a bit over sharpened. The vertical format works well here giving the photo a nice sense of depth. The over hanging clouds set up a mood of mystery for this shot.
TFS,
Asa

Hi Wanda,
It must truly be an amazing place to visit. Not only the ancient ruins but also their beautiful surroundings. An interestign virtical format creating different layers and a contrast in colours.Nice how the mountains are shrouded in clouds.Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Regards, David

Hi Wanda,
This is really nice. I am amazed by the details and sharpness on a cloudy day. Great work and TFS. Gerald

hello Wanda
this is a superb photo of a part of the wonderful Machu Pichu! The light is superb, the dark sky and mountains at the background make a great contrast with the lightened and vivid green of the grass. This vertical composition is really magnificent!
Have a nice evening.
Pascale

Hi Wanda, superb view of this fantastic place with great light and beautiful colors, excellent sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Wanda,
very nice shot! Machu Pichu must be an amazing place to visit, unfortunately I never had the pleasure to visit this place but it`s still one of my dreams. Your picture is great. Especially the colors and the great contrast, the clouds create a beautiful and mystic atmosphere. You captured this scene very well, great work! There is only one thing I don`t like about the picture and that`s the frame, it seems too big for me, if you added a smaller frame (or maybe not a black one) you could concentrate better on the picture. I hope you don`t mind, it`s just my opinion. Your shot is nevertheless awesome and I think every photographer would be happy to have such a shot in his gallery. Very well done and many thanks for sharing.

Greetings
Mark

What an exchibition, indeed!
Wonderful saturated colours, excellent details and scanning! I like very much the steamy atmosphere in the depth. This must be a great archaeological site!

Hi Wanda,
An impressive photo, quite eye catching. The atmosphere produced by the vivid colour of the grass, the shapes and textures of the stone walls and those dark hills involved in clouds and mist is very intense and evocative of the mysteries of the place.
The clarity, sharpness and colours would be great for a digital image; they are awesome in a scan.
Regards, José.

Hello Wanda: it has been a little while - nice, very realistic colors here - perhaps a bit too sharp (?). Have a nice day. regards, c
