Photographer’s Note
From a high position in the ruins, though not the highest point, I framed a part of the ruins and the Urubamba river (down the mountain, left side) in the same picture and shot.
This ruins have been depicted here on TE several times, although none have included the river as I have.
The incomplete mountain to the right is the Wayna Picchu. Several tourists are seen here, though small enough in size (relative) as not to boder the view. That day it was very difficult to take a picture without 'intruders'.
Adjusted a little: levels, curves, saturation +5%, USM and cropped in PS.

Wonderful shot Jurgen - I seen it before - but never with the river - great idea which gives a true feeling of height - thanks for sharing. Great atmosphere you got in this shot as well.

Nice view Jurgen. Gives everybody an idea what will happen if you fall down when climbing Huayna Picchu! I posted a Huayna Picchu view before, you may have seen it.
The good thing about this pic is that it gives us a sense of the height. I would love to go back with a wide angle lens.

I like this composition with the river and steep sides of the mountain. This really adds to the height of the ruins above the valley and how difficult they must have been to reach when this was an active center. And with the river you have a nice curve to complete a circle around the image and back into it at the ruins so it really keeps visual interest, I think. The atmospheric perspective is also great, here, adding to the size of this area and the height of the peaks. Very nicely done.

Espectacular toma Jurgen. La imponente de las ruinas sumadas al paisaje y ese rio majestuoso al fondo del canyon.

Very good perspective! This place offers endless photo opportunites as I've seen other photos of this place in TE as well. I like the composition, which places the river at the bottom left and the ruins on the right, giving the viewer a good sense of depth of the mountain.

Nice view of this landscape, and of these ruins. But it seems that the colours are too much saturated.
Well done Jurgen.

Hey a wonderful foto, very good you included the river. It gives it more depth and for me makes this picture stand out from the most of the Machu Picchu photos.
Well done
