On August 15th an earthquake of 8.0 in the richter scale hit my country near the city of Pisco, 260 km south of Lima leaving over 500 people dead and destroying 70% of the city of Pisco (pop 120,000). Over 200,000 people have been left homeless.

This photo was taken in the departamental capital of Ica. This is the Church of Luren which was also partially destroyed by the earthquake. You can see the damage to the church on photo 67 of the link above.

El 15 de Agosto el Peru sufrio un terremoto de 8 en la escala de richter cerca de la ciudad de Pisco a 260 KM de la capital. El terremoto ha causado por lo menos 500 victimas mortales asi como destruido el 70% de la ciudad de Pisco. Mas de 200,000 personas se han quedado sin hogar.

Esta es una foto de la iglesia del Senor de Luren en la capital departamental de Ica. Esta iglesia ha sido parcialmente destruida. Pueden ver una foto de esta iglesia despues del terremoto en la foto 67 del link que he puesto arriba.

Le 15 AOut, le Perou a suffert un tremblement de terre de 8 dans l'echele de richter. Le centre etait proche de la ville de Pisco a 260 km de la capitale. Le sinistre a fait au moins 500 victimes mortelles et a detruit le 70% de la ville de Pisco. Au moins 200.000 persones sont sans abri.

Dans cete photo vous pouvez voir l'eglise de Luren qui se trouve dans la capital departamentale de Ica. ELle a etait partielment detruit. Vous pouvez voir son etat actuel dans la photo 67 du lien attache.

Hi Daniel,
Living in a country of highly seismic activity and having suffered an earthquake of 7.9 magnitude which claimed the lives of tens of thousands of my people, i know very well the bitterness of this situation. Therefore share your sorrow and bid condolences for the lost lives.
Thank you for the links, but when i clicked, i could not reach the infos needed, at least in English. Maybe check it again?

Hola Daniel.
Hemos seguido desde la Republica Dominicana con mucho interes la tragadia sufrida por el pueblo Peruano en la zona del terremoto, aqui en los periodicos y TV salen noticias de lo acontecido todos los dias. Entre a los links que nos das pero solo sale un periodico de Peru con fecha de hoy, creo que digital y no tiene una sola noticia de lo que esta sufriendo tu pais y de lo consternado que esta el mundo con lo que ha pasado.
Tu foto en blanco y negro es muy buena y se observa la belleza de la arquitectura de la iglesia de Ica. Buen POV y composicion.

Es ralmente una tragedia, y esperemos que la cooperación internacional ayude a suavizar sus efectos. Esta foto es un buen homenaje, al lugar, pero sobre todo a las víctimas, un buen modo también de compartir tu pena, de la que me hago cargo, en la medida de lo posile. Un abrazo.

Muy buena foto! Me gusta la composición (aunque hubiera sido un poquito mejor si la punta de la torre estaría en la foto también)! Muy buena elección de color. Buena nota también. Espero que mucha gente puedan ayudar a los peruanos.

He vivido por 1 año en el Perú (regresé hace apenas un mez), así que es un país muy especial para mi. Me encanta la cultura y la gente peruana y es una pena que tienen que pasar por esto. Es horrible. Estoy pensando en ellos.

Je vois que tu es allé à pizco, effectivement c'est une ville qui a pris cher suite au tremblement tout récent. Hélas c'est le lot quotidien de ce pays en bordure d'une plaque tectonique très "bougeante et remuante", mon meilleur pote qui vit a Arequipa m'a dit que c'est environ une fois par fois qu'il sent la terre trembler. Pour ce tremblement de terre il n'a pas été ressenti à arequipa. Mais c'est sur que les maisons péruviennes ne sont pas forcément aussi solides que les maisons japonaises question anti séisme et que c'est comme dans les 3 petits cochons : les maisons en paille se font raser dès que ça bouge un peu

Gracias Daniel por compartir esta foto. El link de fotografías sobre el terremoto es muy bueno, excelentes fotografías, muy dramáticas y muy humanas, inevitable no llorar.

Ahora es el momento de la reconstrucción y para esto hago un llamado a los viajeros del mundo para que visiten el Perú y que visiten Pisco y Paracas. Estos pueblos viven básicamente del turismo, sin el será difícil la reconstrucción, no material, sino espiritual, humano. Pisco es la capital del licor peruano “pisco”, producido en los valles de Chincha, Cañete, Pisco e Ica (todos destruidos por el terremoto) y exportados desde 1613 por el puerto de Pisco. También es entrada a Paracas, cuya población vive exclusivamente de la pesca y el turismo.

La ayuda no solo es el auxilio inmediato, vayamos y hagamos que nuevamente resurja el trabajo.

Hi Daniel, I live in an area that has seismic activities as well. Quite often I forget the danger that is below and moments such as the one that just happened in Peru is a rude awakening for it. Thanks for all the links provided openning the possibility to give some support and help.

Querido Daniel!!
Primero que nada mi apoyo aunque sea moral con ese lindo Pueblo Peruano. Si no estuviera en Eritrea en este momento hubiese estando trabajanso en Peru con Oxfam, pero como todos sabemos es dificil poder estar en dos lados al mismo tiempo.

Bueno esta fotografia me encanta, el color sepia, la sensacion de mucho calor y desolamiento le da un toque especial!
Ahora voy a ver las fotos del terremoto!!
