Ying and yang,black and white.
This is what makes me think of this symbol with the astronomical observatory whose back is in the shade and front is facing the early morning sun.
For the Inca and their predecessors, the duality in life and religion was important and was expressed in many areas as the usual man/woman,earth/air,water/fire,high class/low class, the world up there with the world down there, even in the seasons as dry/humid.Everything has an opposition that completes it.

Beau travail.
amicalement

Hello Charles!
Lovely landscape shot.
Nice colors and good sharpness.
Congratulations,
Pinar

Hi Charles,

I love how the ray is only casting on the right side and highlights the contrast against the left side. The cloud in the sky just adds a sense of mystery to the picture!

Wilbur

Salut Charles,

Charles,

You certainly have had a string of really nice shots from Machu Picchu. I am not sure what it is but your angles are just different enough from those normally seen that they are remarkable. This is the place I most want to visit so I try to see as many as possible I think this shot pov is fantastic though it is overexposed on the sunny side on the terraces it seems. Never the less it is a really good shot and an angle I have not seen before. Great capture.

Hello Charles. I would have to say that this kind of photo is actually very challenging to capture because of the extreme dynamic range of lighting. But you pulled it off in a very wonderful way here. I love this capture. Good work Charles!

Pierre

Charles,
What a POV !
The landscape is just superb, and the clouds help perfectly to cut the DOF, and emphasize the buildings.
Regards,
JB.

Bonjour Charles,

Beautiful picture of this so wonderful place. I like very much your compsotion with the left hand side, very abrupt in the sahde, and the right hand side bathed in light.

Wonderful composition! Superb colors, light and very good point of view.
Best wishes.

If anyone wants to study a bit closer the culture of Incas, your site Charles, is definitevely a 'must', even if for the visual purposes alone.
Pity, my time in there was so limited, I couldn't take care of many aspects of such fascinating event as their presence on earth, as much mysterious as contradictory - in many ways...
What I did, is just to lick a candy still wrapped in cellophane...
Maybe next time...

Stay on the top, pal.
