Islas Flotantes, or the "Floating Islands" are located in the Titicaca Lake at 3.800 meters above sea level. On the island live the traditional Uros people and the islands actually float. They're constructed with floating soil and roots, topped with big, strong straws, same material they build their houses from.
To get to the Floating Islands, one must go to Puno, near the Bolivian border and there is plentyful of options for tours to the Floating Islands |
