[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Went for a short walk, five days later I got back to Huraz. The only problem with going for a walk on your own is that there is nobody to take a photo of to get the scale of the immense landscapes. Well I solved the problem, self portraits but that does have its set backs as many shorts are of me rushing to the position sometimes tripping arse over tit and sometimes as in one case nearly falling off the top of Ishinca down the other bloody side in the rush to get the pose on the summit.
This is just near Ishinca before nightfall and a few attempts at this photo were needed before I could get into the sleeping bag in time before the dreaded click

Hello Simon,
That's a splendid Hotel Room view ;-)
You have chosen the best place for the biwak.
Excellent shot with amazing mountain in background.
I like the light on your face, that give a good contrast with the dark in background.
Greetings.
Igor

Ciao Simon,
An amazing self portrait: very well done!
Even if you were alone, the composition and light are perfect.
The landscape behind is amazing.
As you can see in my gallery,I had the same problem when I was in Jordan!
See you soon...
Paolo

Great composition with a good DOF in which we can see all the mountains. As you're not looking the camera this shot looks like more natural with the light on your face.
Well done.
Regards,
Jean-Claude

Looks like a wonderful viewpoint, did you spend the night there?
The composition is well balanced and it's funny how the shapes made by the rocks and you in your sleeping bag in the foreground echo those of the mountains in the background.
Excellent self portrait.

Cheers,
Ben

When I saw this picture, I can't speak, looks like I am watching the movie, you looks like as the actor, the background Mountains were amazing!

Hi Simon. I just lightened this a little for no other reason than to let the members gaze upon your ruggedly handsome countenance. Tis a good pic my friend

Hi Simon, Theres a few days growth on that chin & what a fantastic backdrop, you sure did solve the problem the landscape looks awesom but mighty cold, however that sleeping bag looks warm & I bet you were glad for it at night, a magnificent self portrait & one I will never try to copy, wonderful photo, kind regards Wilson.

Powerful. You in the shot makes it all very real. I grow tired of large (and beautiful) shots of mountain ranges that have no reference to reality for me. Perhaps the solution is that I just need to put myself in more settings like this for it to feel real. Hmmm...

Hi Simon. Long time, no see. You keep posting wonderful shots from the mountains as this one too, and I think you should consider posting this one as your profile photo. I tells a lot more about you and your photos than sitting on a horseback ;-) Or not?! Greetings Jens

Great story behind the photo. I like the choice to go black and white.
