A bit of Nepal in the Andes Photo

Photographer’s Note

Some 5 km after passing through Ticlio, the highest point of this highway in Peru going eastwards from Lima, I reached this very blue lake. It is located very close to the mountain to the left of the picture, which should have its peak at more than 5000 meters above the sea level. This lake is not very big. I does not appear in the road map of Peru I posses, therefore I don't know it's name.
To the bottom right of the picture there is a small village. It is not a town, but a mining camp. In this part of Peru there are plenty of mines, but almost no town. It is very difficult to live at such high altitudes.
I took this picture from the highway, located some 50m above the lake. It is a composition of two pictures stitched together in Photoshop.

Nice blue lake. I am planning a trip to Peru so I will look for this location if I am on the same highway. Thanks for the photo.

PS para ir de Munich a toulouse toma unas 12 horas (mira www.viamichelin.com para calcular las distancias entre ciudades europeas) pero con lufthansa puedes volar muy barato si sacas por anticipacion o sino puedes conectar via hamburgo u otro lado con una linea low cost. Cuando partes para alemania?
