Photographer’s Note
As sunset approaches, two Peruvians head home along the railroad tracks at the shore of Lake Titicaca.
The title, for those unfamiliar, comes from the book "A la Recherche du Temps Perdu", by Proust, which translates in English as "In Search of Lost Time" or "Remembrance of Things Past." Nostalgia is one of the themes of the book, and maybe also one of the themes of this image.

bonjour Alexander,
mais n'est-il pas interdit de circuler à pied ici ?
Superbe coup d'oeil, l'image nous ramène au temps des cowboys. La perspective est parfaite et nous emmène tout droit vers les personnages.

Hi dear Ken,
I don't know why, but there is some nostalgia in me, in looking at this photo. Maybe because railroad tracks is symbolic of travels we did, or of travels to come, or even more, of travels we will never do...
These two persons walking, one in the tracks and one outside the tracks, with bags full their hands are a must. And the black & white too.
Really touching photo for me...
Claire
BTW, first storm in Montreal last night, freezing rain and wind, I have no electricity since then. I'm at my office right now! ;(

Hi Alexander
Superb nostalgic image. Seems like a still from an old, romantic movie. The composition of the two small people is brilliant. Also well framedd with nice depth of the rail. Great work.

Good B&W treatment Ken, and I think the tight focus & DOF is good too, as combined with the composition & those railway tracks it all leads the eye nicely to the two people walking away into the distance.

Hello Ken,
Really an inspired title for this composition :)
It matches very well with the "back in time" feeling conveyed by the 2 characters following a loooooong, empty railway. In fact, I feel that the emptiness (both of the railway and of the surroundings) and the B&W treatment play a big role in this image.
I like it much.

Hi Ken,
Great shot! I like the composition of this, the railway line leads the eye in endlessly, as do the two people walking into the distance. Also like the choice of black and white, adds nostalgia. Well done and TFS.
:-) Cheers Tina

Hi Ken,
Very, very interesting vertical composition. I like the blurred foreground and the sharpning to the people further way. Gets all the attention to the part of the image....perfect.

This may be one of your best shots Ken! I like the way you used the rails to pull us right into the scene, and the converging lines draw us to the two people like a magnet. The convergence effect seems to imply some kind of forward motion, and even make it feel like we are walking down the tracks. Well done!
