Another picture taken from the road to the bottom of the Colca Canyon.

This was probably about halfway there. The first stretch of the road travels around a valley, and then the second half consists of intense switchbacks. They're about to start shortly after this picture was taken.

The whole photography thing was pretty hard... i didn't use autofocus for most of the trip in order to conserve battery, but it really wouldn't have done a whole lot for me in this situation anyways... i was bouncing around pretty bad. As it was, manual focus proved pretty fun to try to fine-tune, all the while using a wide-open aperture to keep the shutter speed to a minimum to eliminate motion blur.

The interesting reds of the mountains against the intense blue sky caught my attention in this one, as well as the stretch of our road visible at the bottom.

A vast canyon. Well photographed with good lighting and use of distance.

Hello Sam
This is a very beautiful photo, well composed with the cliff edge crossing the shot in a diagonal. One can see many textures thanks to the sharpness of the image. The colours are superb - that's Nikon for you!! Very good work!!
Best wishes
Mark

Hallo Sam!
What an impressive solitude, what a panorama! I am also impressed by the unbelievable clear air here. I think, men here are cut down to it's real size. Thank you for showing this one!
Greetings from Germany!

Hi Sam. All things considered you did pretty well. That would be tough to go on a trip and have to manual focus the whole time. You were covered with the fast shutter speed to keep the sharpness nice and high.

Hello Sam,
fantastic capture of mountains. I love this kind of severe landscapes... Very good composition and nice contrast between the mountains and the blue sky.
Very well done. Best regards,
Andrzej

Hello Sam,

It remains me some good memories :) You capture very well this impressive landscape. Colors are vivid but not too much, good work.

Best regards, Laurent.

Hi Sam,
I can breath the crispy pure air and the sky's colour is a sign of that. The place looks wonderfully wild and the colours are stunning.
A smile
Luca

Hi Sam,

your images from Colca Canyon are very interesting...this one is a kind of a photo which would always appeal to me for the various mountain ridges being so close to each other...great view...i am sure i will return to your Colca gallery sooner rather than later...cheers, arturo
