Day 10 - After our bus and all the other had left the city we have the old Inca narrow streets of Ollantaytambo almost for us. Some locals were going back home as the afternoon ended... Here a simple scene from our nice stroll around the pleasant streets. Just few steps she met another women and stay talking on the corner for sometime... a kid played near them with some rocks that he used as little cars...
Constantly inhabited since the XIII century, this village is considered a living Inca city once the 'canchas' (a bloc of hoses with a unique entrance giving to a backyard - see WS) are still in used today. On the WS you can see a narrow street and how the wall were constructed, not straight, but inclined, a technique to avoid damage during earthquakes.

'Ollantaytambo is a town in southern Peru, located in the district of Ollantaytambo, province of Urubamba, Cusco region. It is approximately 60 km to the northwest of the city of Cusco, situated at an altitude of 2792 meters above sea level.'
Ollantaytambo, which means something like "Storehouse of my Lord," is thought to be the only remaining example of pre-Columbian urban planning. The buildings and courtyards as well as the narrow lanes have their original form. The straight, narrow streets today form fifteen square blocks, or canchas, which contain one entrance to a central quadrangle which is surrounded by houses. A number of fine colonial houses are constructed on finely-worked Inca walls of dark pink rock. The original Inca settlement constituted an administrative, religious, agricultural and military complex.' (from Wikipedia)

Hello Flavia,
Another great shot from this area. The cobble stone street and the wall look good. I like it very much. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Debbie

Hey Flavia

Nice capture of daily life and a good quiet street scene you have captured here. It would have been nice if she had been walking into the picture. But well done.
Ben

Oi Flavia,

Amicalement, Brigitte
