Day 10 - One of the girls in our bus was in a tough negotiation with the little local seller while we waited in front of our bus to leave Chinchero. The little girl caught my attention because of her responsible posture in her business, her colorful local dress and her cute face. Children usually goes with their mothers to work in a lot of undeveloped countries to help them on their little business or just because they do not have anyplace else to let the kids. Sometimes they even work themselves, to bring extra money home. A sad reality unfortunately true for billions of children worldwide. As for our little seller I do not know which was her case or history, she was alone during the time I was photographing her, but I guess her mother had just left for lunch...I have the impression of have seem other woman with her earlier.

I took some pictures of her, but in none she has a vivid nice expression as this one in interaction with her customer. It seems that I was not the only one interested in their negotiation, al the women around seemed to be also looking to them. The negotiation must have went ok, once the tourist bought the pull she had in her hands.

I put a cropped version centered on the girl as a WS and another portrait of her distracted while waiting for more business. Let me know what you think.

I darkened lighted dark areas and darkened a little the bright area, once the girl was in shadow area and the ground was overexposed. I applied a warm filtrer.

hello flavia,

i just love your photo, the beautiful lady and the cude girl on business. this picture is not all about composition, its about a story you have written, so i guess some parts of it which seems lil'bit exposed doesn't affect much of the meaning of your picture you are presenting.

thanks for the note...

Hello Flavia,
This is a beautiful daily life photo. The little girl and her articles that are for sale look very colourful indeed. It is a shame that children in some parts of the world miss out on a childhood. Lovely thought provoking photo. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers,
Debbie

Bonjour Flavia

Amicalement, Brigitte

Maybe she was just a better salesgirl than her mom, using all that cuteness--Mom may have found it better to just stay out of the way! It's nice how the two women at the table are looking back to keep an eye on the girl. A pleasant scene, Flavia, very nicely caught and composed. Regards, Ken.
