Plaza de Armas in the centre of Cuzco, the Cathedral at left, the rainbow Inca flag, red and white Peruvian flag, amd the church of La Compañia at right. Taken from an upstairs cafe. Not an original photo, but I thought the sky was interesting. And there are HUMANS clearly visible in one of MY photos.
Modern Cusco is a fascinating mix of Inca and Colonial architecture and culture. In a lasting tribute to Inca skill, many extremely well-constructed Inca walls still stand today - intact, smooth and held together by only the precision of their angles and the gradual inward slope of their planes. They have withstood more than one earthquake that has leveled the Spanish buildings on top of them. The Spanish Colonial architecture is also beautiful. In the Plaza de Armas, The Cathedral contains 400 colonial paintings, silver objects of art, and a main altar completely covered in silver. The convent of Santa Catalina contains important art and carvings, and is, somewhat ironically, built on top of what was the Inca residence of the chosen women. Many churches and museums contain paintings of the Cusco style developed by the Mestizo (Spanish and Indian heritage) artists. They applied European styles to their own fairy-tale and fable content. Unfortunately most of these early Mestizo artists painted anonymously, by insistence of the Spanish.

Wow Tan! This is so amazing, it is almost unreal. I like the way you have positioned yourself to have 3 walkways radiating out in different directions from the bottom right. The colours and definition are great and very lifelike. As usual, you top it all off with a spectacular sky. This is really beautiful, and I can't think how it could be improved. Superb!

Do you call God before you take a picture and request the sky you want? Just kidding!Amazing! The intense contrast and colors of the buildings against that sky made this look surreal. Again well done.

You have to tell the truth: You went up there and paint the sky by hand!
Lovely picture. And agree, the point of view is perfect.
Great shoot Tan!

It looks like a frozen vivid moment for me. I don't know how you do that, but I really like it. Nice composition. Great colours. Great sky.

Great POV! The timing was excellent for a play of shades and lights. Very nice composition.

Hola Capitan !
Very nice double perspective leading my eye in two directions to both monuments, quite a difficult optical exercize ;-) The scene is very clear and the clouds add nice dramatism, I was just wondering what's the flag next to the Peruvian one ?
Have a nice day,

Ha ha, humans visible in one of your photos, Tan, we don't see that too often - but hard to avoid in an 'urban' landscape. Great composition abd POV as usual - and with your trademark sky. The billowing clouds seem to have postioned themselves against the buildings just for your benefit. Cheers . . . David

nice view of this place, seems very big, indeed the sky is incredible.
We saw often the Machu Pichu on TE but not this place, so thank's to share it.

Wonderful clouds indeed above this square and the buildings. I like there're people everywhere in the picture as well as the lighting here. Well done.

Hi Tan. I guess you used a polarizing filter here and this produced a marvelous sky but left all the rest a little darker. Shadows are not too long so it was not a late afternoon that could bring this darkening. You might try to compenste this using shadow/highlight function in PS. I would also crop out those cars on the right and part of the pavement to focus more on the sky and lines leading towards buildings (see my WS). Thanks for sharing. Regards Marek

Defenitely a truly great image! You almost wonder if this place is on earth, it does look unreal, a bit surrealist almost. What an angle!

Can be real that sky? If we see it in the photo, must be; but is really amazing, and also has, the photo, a great composition.

I am going back in your galery as you are a well travelled guy.
I would be there again next June, and knowing the place, I can relate to the photo and appreciate your point of view, from one of the galeries I would think.A point of view that gives the viewer a global view of the main architectural interest, all set against a very interesting sky.
From the shadows,I will say it was mid to end afternoon?
Have a good day
