Photographer’s Note
Originality from the same perspective that thousands of tourists see? Sometimes it is difficult to discover Machu Picchu without feeling as if the whole world has seen it before you.
What I wanted to share, though, was that sense of freshness I felt after stumbling up the trail to Machu Picchu one morning from Aguas Calientes. Its a personal place. Find some rock, sit and breathe. Soon you'll find yourself lost in a dream.
This was the start of my exploration of this mysterious city, that would last until hours into the night.

A classic shot, well executed. I like the lighting on the ruins and the mountain behind. Your note is good too as I remember similar feelings as I sat on my rock and looked at the view below. The top of the frame, especially the sky is a little overexposed - selecting the sky in Photoshop and working on this separately from the rest of the frame may help to overcome this.

Te entiendo perfectamente, I understand you perflectly well. We went there in the first bus at 6 AM, we were lucky enough to see the place almost alone. It´s an amazing place that you show us in all its greatness. Congratulations, enhorabuena.

I like here those tracks of how well humans fit themself in to this power of nature, here perfectly spotted out with full light on the ruins mids the clear green, a place high up sheltered by natural defense and slightly enclosed by this flank of the mountain, build up with the material from all around fitting it in to the surroundings so well.
Indeed we lost natural materials in architecture to fit in our presence in nature so well as they still knew then.
Very well done and thanks for sharing this little paradise.
Greetings
Henk

John Paul,
Certainly is a great photo. Unique? Hard to tell... Nonetheless, you did a fantastic job capturing the morning light on the ancient city. The overexposed portion at the top is a little distracting, but my eyes tend to flow down into the city ruins and onto the bright grassy openings. I know the feeling of sitting on one of the terraced steps, looking down on the ruins, and suddenly feeling "lost in a dream." Your photo with the saturated colors, interesting shadows, (and lack of any other travellers) captures that feeling well. Well done!
