Photographer’s Note
The Volcano Chachani is one of the volcanos that can be clearly seen from the city of Arequipa. Its highest peak lies at 6057 m above the sea level. Another picture of this same volcano, but taken from an airplane while leaving Arequipa, can be seen here.
The map link shows the place where I was when I shot the picture. The place is the Grau Bridge (Puente Grau). According to Google maps, the distance between the bridge and the volcano, measured as a straight line, is aprox. 25 km.
This is a photocomposition of three pictures, all taken with the same ISO setting, aperture and shutter speed. I later auto-stitched them using Photoshop. I underexpose the three pictures 2/3 stops because it was a very sunny and bright day, and the SONY camera tends to wash out the pictures taken in such circumstances.
