Photographer’s Note

Lago Sandoval in the "Reserva Nacional de Tambopata" was long time ago a part of the river Madre De Dios, now the lake is a one hour walk away from the river and one hour by boat from Puerto Maldonado
You can reach the lake via Puerto Maldonado(daily flights from Cusco). You can book tours in advance which are verry expensive. From Puerto Maldonado 180$ for 3days/2nights.
I was happy to meet Victor at the airport,an official tour guide, former working in one of the expensive lodges. He offered us a tour ,4days/3nights to the lake and the Mehija lodge,60$ each, all inclusive. All inclusive means :no electricty(who needs?)food and wonderful and interesting tours on and around the lake.Victor knows every plant and animal.
The lodge is build for 20 people but we were happy to be alone.
There are living 6 kinds of monkeys, caimans, giant otters, sloth(like me)and about 1000 kinds of birds.
