Photographer’s Note
Sandoval Lake is deep within the Amazon and a short boat ride from Puerto Maldonado. It's great to take an evening boat ride to view (and hear!) the wildlife that abounds in this area - monkeys, caiman, otters, piranha and exotic birds. Amazing insects can also be found on land - like leafcutter ants, giant moths and poisonous spiders including tarantulas! This photo was taken in early evening and from a boat.

Hi Claudia,
This could have been a much more powerful image, I believe, by shifting your point of view much lower and capturing the reflection of those amazing palm trees as well. It may have made a portrait orientation necessary, but I think it would have been worth it. I would really like to visit that place, too, your description is very appealing!

Bonjour Claudia,
So you were afraid to get off the boat and venture inland were you? Did the monkeys sound ominous?
The photo is beautiful. The simplicity of the shapes and colors combined makes a beautiful scene. I like especially the trees along the water that we seldom see where they are placed here. The white bark and rich greens make a splendid scene. Good to be there I imagine...

Hi Claudia
There is a nice pattern happening here with the trees and their reflections. The one leaning tree provides an interesting focal point. Lovely evening light.
