Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken during the amazing 8 km hike from the little town of Aco to the little town of Mito in the Mantaro Valley of Junin. We wanted to see some traditional towns, and as the country has become wealthier traditional mudbrick houses with tiles are being replaced by ugly brick flat roofed houses which are obviouslyt more confortable but do not keep with tradition. We took public transportation to two other towns before we arrived to the sleepy town of Aco. From there we asked for directions and walked through a dirt trail among beautiful landscapes seeing rural people doing their traditional work.
A really nice walk.

Very beautiful Daniel how in this sober landscape you attention is immediatly pulled to these three mules and the man behind, incredible how such a tiny detail becomes so big in this wide landscape view.

Daniel hope your trip is getting on well. Nice composition, I like how you have placed the mules in the frame, the tiny tree and the snowcapped mountain in the BG. Bala

Hi Daniel,
How is your holiday going so far? I have missed your shots.. Looks like you are having a great time there! :)
and your camera, how is it now to be free of film worries? Do you like Rebel XT? When i tested your one before, it was like a "toy camera" for me; was so small in my big hands.. Couldnt feel right at all, lol!
This is a beautiful shot..i love those donkey figures there, i can imagine how nice walk it was.. Nice muted colours, your composition is very nice as usual..
Take care, hope to see your shots more!
Cheers.

I like the composition, especialy the way you built the perspective - chains of mountains of different tones. The sense of scale is also fine accentuated by man and his mules...

Hi Daniel,
This is a no man's land here! But you have included that dunkey and it gives a good idea of the scale and most of all, a human presence with the man behind!
Great..

This is very intersting photo Daniel. It has strange feeling of lonelyness. Great landscape and small human interaction which is perfectly placed in the corner. Great compo. L.

Hello Daniel,

Hi Daniel,
An empty but beautiful landscape! The shapes of this piece of nature and the colours are very good, well done.

Gracias

I totally agree with your comments on this photo, I too miss the tiled roofed houses now they use tin ones and it just does not look right. It realy is a shame. It is just like the Callejon de Huaylas, never was the same after the earthquake, now it is all a complete disorder and chaos. Still there are wonderful places left but you really have to go far away and look for them . Really good photo the donkies give you the right balance.
