Photographer’s Note
Okay, once again a postal card, and moreover the utterly classic shot of the Machu Pichu, but, well, I couldn't resist, it might be the same shot as billions of hikers' ones, this one's mine, and I've been there, I slept one night at the foot of it and experienced the mighty daybrake on the holy Machu Pichu... It's one of the most important moment of my life...
Actually the mountain showing up on the shot, the mountain everybody around the world links to the name Machu Pichu, is indeed the Huanca Pichu wihc basically means "the young peak" whereas Machu Pichu means "the old peak" - and the old lad is behind us at this moment. We're here on the top of the "farming" part of the city, and we see on the left in the foreground the houses rebuilt (without the roof wich were made of hay and very fragile); in the city center the grassgreen, left on top of it the solar temple and the moon temple nearby, and the right side is composed of jailhouses and common rooms.
When one come to Machu Pichu in the evening and sleeps there - well actually you cannot sleep with the shape of the Machu Pichu on top of you behond the stars of the night sky - one can get up very early - 4.30 p.m. - and enjoy the daybrake from the hilltop that oversees the holy city. That's something you'd never forget, trust me lads. Thanks for your attention!
I'm adding this after having red all your enthousiastic comments: I must say I'm not so sure wether I took the shot or my friend Arno did - of the Machu Pichu and the Huanca Pichu we took dozens, both of us, so... We use to share the camera during the whole trip but since it's his gear, I'm pretty positive there's a chance that it was he who actually took the shot... So all comments he might deserve more than me.
Check there and look for the "photos" section for more images.
Any comment welcome !
Cheers folks.

This is really pituresque I must say. I hadn't seen any shots of Machu Pichu before this but I must say your post does justice to a really beautiful place. The tuft of cloud hanging on the right adds that extra touch to it. Thanks for sharing and for the note as well.

Well, it would be hard to go wrong with such a vista, and it has now become a bit of a cliche shot, but well captured anyway

Is the well known view of Matchupichu. While so widespread, suggest more originality in composition or WS.

I have seen a couple of shots of this fantastic place, this is one of the best. And I never get tired of looking at pitures from Machu Piccu - hopefully I get to see this classical view for real some day!
Well composed picture, nice colours and light. The cloud adds to it. Simply beautiful.

This is a shot that reminds me of my stay there. It is not so easy to take it very good because of the strong sun and sometimes there are too much clouds. I see no tourists on your picture either; you were very very lucky. Thanks

It's a very impressive place! The photo is sharp and clear the depth is great. What I like most is the use of light. Beautiful photo! Beau travail!

Incredible. I think that this shot helped me to realize more of the area than before, if only because of the amount of background peaks featured and not just the city. Well done to you AND your friend.
