Yesterday I posted the very classic Machu Pichu city view. I was expecting disapointed comments like "Very nice cliché shot..." yet everybody seemed enthousiastic, thus do I post today the very opposite view: the last one shown us the Huanca Pichu (the young peak) take from the foot of the Machu Pichu (the old peak). This one here is the real Machu Pichu - and I'm very sorry for the bloody cloud just right in front of the Machu Pichu.

Once again this shot has probably been taken by my friend Arno - I shall then share any comment with him.

On the shot one can clearly see on the left the levels where the Incas used to grow vegetables, hay, and send the beasts to pastures. On the top one can see a little house - that's were we sit for hours, waiting for the sun to come up and enlight the city; that's were the other shot was taken. On the side of the Machu Pichu there's a path: it's the famous Inca Trail which arrives here, and come after 4 days walk from the Ollantaytambo area, in the Urubamba valley.

All apologizes for the shadowy part on the left foreground. That shot was taken spontaneously, and it's much more a reflection of the first one.

Any comments welcome.

Any comment welcome !

Cheers folks.

This is a very different view of Machu Pichu. The shadow is unfortunate but you do not always have control over those situations. Those terraces are rather interesting to the eye and I like the way they lead you to the peak of that mountain.

A different viewpoint from a classic place. From the date of your picture I know I was there just some days before you went (look at my viewpoint and date of visit here). This is as I remeber it. Perhaps some minutes later and the cloud was gone.

A rugged terrain. Great photo of an interesting part of the country. You captured the contrasting colours beautifully. Nice job.

wow! this is as good a view as the huanca pichu.. nice capture.. well done
