Photographer’s Note
When I went to Cusco, I decided to visit the ruins of Machu Picchu, doing the Inca Trail (4 days, 3 nights). The Inca Trail is a road which was built by the Incas. It is surrounded with beautiful nature and leads you from Piscacucho (KM82) to the ruins of Machu Picchu, passing close to a lot of ruins (Llactapata, Sayaqmarca, etc.) which can only be seen by foot (as the Inca Trail is not open to cars or any other vehicle). So it's really worth it.
This picture was taken on the 3rd day in the afternoon, before arriving to Wiñaywayna, the last camping (at 2650m). At the left part, you can observe terraces ("andenes" in Spanish) which the Incas built to have grass for their lamas or alpacas and to cultivate corn, potatoes, etc. On the right side you see a valley, and you can even see a small pathway next to the river (at the left side). Just to give you an idea of the dimensions...
I know the sky is overexposed, but the light conditions were quite bad that day. I tried to capture the Inca ruins as well as the incredible view on the deep valley. I stitched 3 photos to get this result. I hope you like it!
Have a nice day,
Thomas
