The old woman was sitting there, like petrified, as if time didn't exist...

The place is the small town of Maca, up in the Peruvian Andes, almost deserted after an earthquake that took place in July 1991.

This is scan (from print) of a shot taken four years later, in 1995.

the tones are very interesting.
The woman behinf the wall and behind the other side the mountain. Strange atmosphere indeed...

bit tight framing on the left hand side but in general it's a very nice work - where minimalism is the word that should be applied in this case... i do love her pose, if only we could see slightly more of her...
anyway - this image is so much "latinamerican"...
