Photographer’s Note

It's a long (8 hours) bus ride from Arequipa to Chivay, passing through, or should I say above, the clouds. Here, at about 4500 m, air becomes 40% less rich in oxygen and breathing becomes difficult...except for alpacas, whose respiratory system has evolved to utilize far better than humans every little bit of oxygen. This is the altiplano...an arid desert-like ecosystem unfriendly at best, suicidal at worst if one ventures far from the main road. Like New York City... it's a nice place to visit , but one wouldn't want to live here!

I liked the shot, specially the contrast between the clsoer alpacas and the far-away mountains. I would try a wide-angle lens, looking at this photo makes me wonder what else is in the scenary (and it would probably emphasize the mountains).
