(Series on my Trip to PERU - South America - COLCA RIVER CANYON - From September 6th to 22nd, 2007 - # 005 !)

I was staying at CHIVAY, the biggest town in the COLCA VALLEY. The day before, I traveled from AREQUIPA to that town - a long, but pretty interesting trip - in a tour bus, listening to local music. In the afternoon we all went to some local hot springs - simple ones, but pretty cozy and relaxing. That day, we were supposed to visit the COLCA CANYON, to see all its giant and wild beauty, including the flight of the CONDORS!

You show us a breathtaking and most impressive landscape here. The point of view couldn't be better in order to show this. One really can see the forces of erosion here. A great sight - and photo as well!

A wonderful landscape, the cactus really adds to the composition.
It is such a desolate but beautiful looking country and you've captured it perfectly in this image.

impressive landscape! this view is very much enlivened by the cactus :) Very good effect of depth, with a clear bright FG and a little hazy BG where the mountains gradually become united with the clouds in the sky.

Hi Neyvan,
Splendid view of the Colca Canyon. Nice composition with cactus. But where are the condors? Do you know that the canyon was :"discovered' by the group of Polish students who went by kayaks all the way through Colca? i remember these hot springs, relaxing indeed. and women in Chivay, have they still beautiful long dresses?

Excellent shot of the canyon. Right on the edge you are able to convey the depth, although as it is so deep we can't see the bottom. :). The composition to include the huge cactus works very well. Very good bonus shots in the WS too.

Lovely Peruvian landscape, the way I remember it to be hiking along the trails to Machu Picchu with the cactus as your anchor point creating a very nice composition with tthe mountain and valley beyond. Really refreshing and open field. Thanks

Hi Neyvan!
I have good memories at this canyon.I stayed one night in Chivay and three in Pincholo,which is a very small village with only one possibility for private accommodation.
Great shot and excellent composition.The huge cactus is perfect positioned and I like thew view into the canyon and the mountans i#n the distance.I feel like beeing there again.

Olá Neyvan, lembro-me perfeitamente deste lugar e da dimensão verdadeiramente impressionante desta garganta. Também me lembro de não conseguir fazer fotografias devido ao excesso de luz. Este cacto ficou perfeito agarrando a vista toda, oferecendo contraste e profundidade. Gostei muito dos WSs pelo contexto que dão e também pelo teu retrato :)
